I write to offer my sympathy on the loss of your beloved father, husband, brother, and uncle. Dr. (Chief) Sonny Ajie was an embodiment of wit, a visionary political mentor, a dedicated medical practitioner, and a true blessing to the people of Ogba-Egbema- Adoni, Rivers State, Nigeria, and the globe. He nurtured and empowered countless influential personalities in
various spheres of endeavor. As an icon of medicine, esteemed academic, political leader, and philanthropist, he made significant contributions to higher education at Rivers State University, nation-building, and the advancement of transportation infrastructure in the State
Dr. Ajie was also a steadfast advocate for the oppressed. His enduring legacy as a compassionate mentor, educator, and public servant will continue to inspire us all. May Almighty God comfort his immediate family and all who mourn his loss.
Rest in peace, our father, mentor, and guiding light.
I write to express my heartfelt condolence to a worthy Father, mentor, and my beloved short-lived customer. Incidentally, I met Daddy after his return from the clinic, he was already ill and due to his inability to come to the office to perform certain transactions, that necessitated my visit and that was my first time of meeting with him. The reception was epic, despite his condition and the inconvenience of taking the part of the visit to be able to secure relevant Management approvals to attend to him owing to his health condition, I kept in touch mostly on phone and more with Dr Ada being that I didn’t want inconvenience Daddy with any banking palaver. The last time I visited Daddy before his eventual death, we discussed extensively. One major intriguing character of his was his care and fatherly disposition, he always asked me to sit just beside him while we discussed, this he does all the time as if he had long known me and as if I am his son. His encouragements and cares were unique. I remember on the last visit I made to him as if he was already aware he was departing, he called his daughter, Dr Ada and said to her, “please listen to him (myself in this case) and ensure you help him with his career”, at this juncture, I needed no prophesy to confirm to me the kind of material he was made of. I was devastated to have come to pay him a new year visit with some goodies I thought he would have been delighted to have only to be informed of his demise.
I indeed miss the very many moments we shared together even though those were on his sick bed, I am confident the Lord whom it has pleased to repose his soul at this very time will grant his dear wife, our mummy and his beloved children and well wishers the fortitude to bear the huge loss. Adieu Dr (Chief) Sunny Ajie, till we meet to part no more. Chizoba Kanu, your Relationship Manager, First Bank Ltd.

Daddy was a mentor, teacher and like a dad to me. I got to know a lot of basics in my career through him and this has brought me thus far in my profession. If life is to be bought I believe your lovely daughter Ada as you fondly call her and your lovely, smart wife mummy wouldn’t have allowed you to go because the care was massive indeed!! I raised my hands and duffed my cap in appreciation to them. May God comfort and strengthen them. How I wish good people don’t die!! Your kindness is none to be compared with. Your humility is a top notch. It’s an inevitable end. You will forever be missed, but your memories will forever be cherished.Rest on Dad till we meet on the resurrection morning.

EXIT OF A GREAT MAN
Dr. Pearl Ajie- Jackson
Today, I honor the life and times of a father, an uncle, and a pillar in the Ajie’s family, Chief. (Dr.) Sunny Ajie. You were an Iroko tree, that stood tall and weathered the storm. You lived your life with quiet power, grounded in love, wisdom, and integrity. Your strength wasn’t just in your actions, but in your ability to lead by example, guiding others through life’s challenges with grace and unwavering support.
Your wisdom was a gift to all who knew you—a beacon of light in times of uncertainty. You taught me that strength is not about how much we can endure, but about how we lift others up along the way. Your words were always carefully chosen, filled with insight, and always rooted in love. You always showed affection, offered comfort, gave your time willingly and were always there to listen and very easy to talk to.
You touched so many lives, leaving behind a legacy of love, wisdom, and unwavering strength. You value honesty and led by example. You were a peaceful and fun-loving father who always cracked us up with laughter even with common things. Oh, how Jason, Joanna, and especially Jenise misses you; I miss you, too. We are better for having known you, and we carry your lessons with us every day. You may no longer walk beside us, but your spirit lives on in the way we continue to love, to be strong, and to live wisely, just as you did. Sleep peacefully, great man, uncle and father.
Your Niece,
Dr. Pearl Ajie-Jackson.

Honoring a Phenomenal Uncle and Boss
With a heart heavy with sorrow yet filled with gratitude to God for a life well spent, I write this tribute in honor of Sir (Chief) Dr. Sunny Ajie JP—the pride of Ihiukwu kindred, the Osichi 2 of Ogbaland, a distinguished elder statesman, and the pioneer Commissioner for Transport, Rivers State.
It is difficult to speak of you in the past, Uncle Ajie. For as long as I can remember, you were always there—a steadfast presence through both joyful and challenging times, a pillar of unwavering strength and support.
To my siblings and me, you were simply “Dr. Ajie,” but to the world, you were so much more. You embodied resilience, dependability, and hard work. A man of integrity, you led by example, never shying away from responsibility and always ensuring that those around you felt uplifted and supported. No challenge was too daunting; you faced every task with determination and grace.
I had the distinct honor of serving as your Personal Assistant 2 when you held office as Commissioner for Transport—an opportunity that allowed me to witness firsthand your fairness, compassion, and generosity. You treated everyone with dignity and respect, always extending a helping hand to those in need. I watched you employ and assist people you had never met before, ensuring that no one left your office without hope and a smile, regardless of their struggles.
But beyond your leadership, you were family in the truest sense. More than an uncle, you became a second father, a mentor, and my greatest supporter. When my father—your dear “paddy”—passed away, you stepped in without hesitation, filling the void with love, strength, and unwavering guidance. From last-minute aso-ebi sewing to attending weddings—even when you hadn’t received a formal invitation—you and Aunty always showed up, proving time and again that family was your priority. You deeply loved your family, speaking of your children with immense warmth and pride.
Despite being a social and well-respected man, you remained deeply rooted in faith. Your relationship with God was the foundation of your life, guiding your every action. As your PA, I knew that no one was allowed to see you in the morning until you had knelt in prayer. At the end of each day, you always made a stop at Corpus Christi to thank God, often reminding me of your favorite scripture:
“Since I was born, and now am old; I have never seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.” – Psalm 37:25
Your faith was unshakable, shining through in both your personal and professional life.
Losing you is deeply heartbreaking.
I will miss your infectious laughter and the warmth of your voice calling me “Lady Ego.” I still remember the last time I visited the house when you asked me, “If you lose someone dear to you, even if they were 100 years old, would you celebrate with a big party or be in deep mourning?” I paused, looked at you, and replied, “The world may celebrate, but those closest to ‘the person’ will be in mourning.”
That night, as I was leaving, you walked me to the car, prayed over me, and gave me your blessing. Did you know that would be the last time I would see you?
Though my heart aches, I find solace in knowing you lived a life of purpose, kindness, and faith. Your legacy lives on in the countless lives you touched. I will forever cherish the wisdom you shared, the opportunities you provided, and the unconditional love and support you gave me.
Rest well, my dear uncle, my boss, my mentor.
Your kindness, strength, and faith will forever remain in our hearts. With love and honor,

A TRIBUTE TO MY DEAR FATHER-IN-LAW
Today, I remember a truly remarkable man! You brought joy, laughter, and wisdom into every room you entered. Your great sense of humor was a gift to all who knew you. No matter the situation, you could always find a way to bring light to even the darkest of days.
Beyond your humor, you were a liberal soul – a man who stood for kindness, fairness, and understanding. You believed in helping others, lifting them up, and making the world a better place with every action. You showed us the importance of love, compassion, and embracing differences, showing us through your own actions how to live with an open heart and mind.
Personally, I will forever be grateful for your support during a time when I needed it most. When I was bereaved, your kindness and understanding provided a sense of comfort and strength. Your presence was a steadying and reassuring force, and the way you reached out without hesitation meant more to me than words can express.
As the world say goodbye, I find peace in knowing that your legacy will live on. Your unwavering belief in the goodness of people will continue to inspire all of us who had the privilege of knowing you. While the pain of your loss is deep, I know your lessons will stay with us, and the world is a little brighter for having had you in it.
Farewell Sir Dr. Sunny Ajie, and thank you for everything. You will always have a special place in my heart.

SIR, DR. (CHIEF) SUNNY AJIE: IN REQUIEM
Sir, Dr. (Chief) Sunny Ajie, the Colossus of a medical practitioner leaves a legacy of humility and finesse as he passes away at the matured age of 78. With his death the transient nature of human existence and the virtues of integrity and good name cannot be better illuminated.
Sunny Ajie was first and foremost, a simple man. He was a man so comfortable in who he was that he did not desire to be anything else. He was simply happy, being happy, making people happy, thinking aloud and writing about his thoughts, sharpening his mind, grooming other minds, and pursuing excellence for the public good and for the sake of excellence itself. Sunny was not known with meddlesomeness. He was a man who would state his stance and stick to it firmly, irrespective of pressure or attack from anywhere.
A good man has departed from us. We must all be rest assured that his memory will live on as long as diligence, excellence, and God-fearing Spirit are counted among the highest virtues.
May his soul rest in perfect peace, Amen.

TRIBUTE TO MY BELOVED UNCLE
Uncle it’s with a heavy heart am writing this. My story in life is incomplete without mentioning your name.
At every phase of my life, you played a major role. From my admission to my graduation you did it.
You took me for my admission, how I remembered you telling the registrar that “OUR CHILDREN SHOULD GO TO OUR OWN UNIVERSITY ”
If there was only one slot for employment and Doc Ajie tells you to go and sleep that you will get the job, just relax because he will get it for you.
You were far too kind. I watched you gave recommendation letters to people you didn’t know while undergoing my industrial training in your office when you were a Commissioner in Rivers State.
You and Aunty had time for my siblings and I, you always attend our functions. How you wore Agbada to my wedding knowing where I got married from.
I choose to remember the good memories I had of you because you were a happy man.
I remember one of my visits ,you took me to Government house and asked IFEOMA have you been to Government house before I said NO you said to me Ifeoma this is Government house because I know what you students like.
You had time for everyone and you treated everyone with respect.
On the 24th of November, your birthday I sent you an sms no response this was unusual of you for the first time in decades you didn’t respond to my message and then you passed away the next month. I was devastated.
I knew I had lost a father because you stood in as my Dad after my Dad’s passing in 2011.
I told my sister that with your passing I wouldn’t look for trouble because no one will come to my rescue.
I will live to remember all the good things you did for me. I guess in my own little way, I made you proud.

A Tribute to Sir Dr. (Chief) Sonny Ajie
It is with a deep sense of loss and gratitude that I reflect on the life of a truly remarkable man—Sir Dr. (Chief) Sonny Ajie. A man of wisdom, kindness, and generosity, he was more than just a mentor; he was a father figure, a guiding light, and an unwavering pillar of support in my journey.
Sir Sonny had a unique way of making every conversation lively, always throwing in funny remarks that left everyone around him in laughter. His humor was effortless, his words carried wisdom, and his presence exuded warmth. He always called me “Gift Naaanovo”, a name he crafted with such fondness, making me feel special every time he said it.
Beyond words, he demonstrated kindness in the most practical ways. He never hesitated to extend his help, always ensuring that I had the necessary support to achieve my goals. Whether it was offering his private vehicle, having his security personnel assist me, or simply being there to encourage me, his generosity knew no bounds. He was a man who truly believed in lifting others up, and I am forever grateful for the role he played in my life.
Sir Dr. Sonny Ajie, you are deeply missed. Your kindness, your laughter, and your unwavering support will never be forgotten. The impact you made in my life and in the lives of so many others remains a lasting legacy. Rest well, Sir. Your memory lives on in our hearts.

A Guiding Light Never Fades: Honoring a Man of Wisdom and Grace
Dr. Ada Ajie,
We can attest to the remarkable life and enduring legacy of your beloved father-a man of immense wisdom, kindness, and boundless generosity.
He was more than a father; he was a pillar of strength, a mentor, and a beacon of hope. He lived with purpose, uplifting those around him, sharing knowledge, and leading with a heart full of compassion. His words carried wisdom, his actions spoke of love, and his presence was a source of comfort and assurance.
His legacy is not one confined to the past but a living force carried forward through you. The values he instilled-integrity, resilience, and a commitment to service-shine brightly in the way you inspire change, advocate for the vulnerable, and lead with unwavering dedication.
Just as he gave selflessly, you continue to give. Just as he led with wisdom, you lead with vision. Just as he loved deeply, you impact lives with that same boundless love.
His influence echoes in the lives he touched, in the hearts he shaped, and in the principles that guide you today. His was a life not measured by material wealth but by the richness of the love he shared and the countless lives he uplifted.
May his legacy continue to shine through you, illuminating paths, changing lives, and inspiring generations to come. And may you and your family always find strength and peace in the unfailing love of God.
“The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in His love, He will no longer rebuke you but will rejoice over you with singing.” Zephaniah 3:17 .

With heavy hearts but immense gratitude to God Almighty, we gather today at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Omoku, to honour and celebrate the life of a truly remarkable man – Sir Dr. (Chief) Sonny Ajie. Though our hearts ache at his passing, we are comforted by the extraordinary legacy he leaves behind – a legacy of love, generosity, and selfless service.

*A Tribute to Sir Dr. Sonny Ajie*
It is with a heavy heart that I write this tribute to my dear friend and mentor, Dr. Sonny Ajie. His passing leaves a void that words cannot fully capture, but I take solace in the memories of a life well lived and the profound impact he had on those who were fortunate enough to know him.
Dr. Ajie was more than just a mentor to me—he was an older friend, a guiding light, and an example of humility and kindness. Despite his vast knowledge and accomplishments, he carried himself with a rare grace that made him easy to approach and even easier to admire. His humility was not just a trait; it was a testament to the depth of his character.
There was something truly special about him. Whether it was in his words of wisdom, his unwavering support, or his simple yet profound kindness, he had a way of making you feel seen, heard, and valued. He never hesitated to share his knowledge, his time, or his warmth, and in doing so, he left an indelible mark on my life and the lives of many others.
Though he is no longer with us in body, his spirit lives on in the lessons he taught, the lives he touched, and the legacy of kindness and humility he leaves behind. Dr. Ajie, your absence is deeply felt, but your memory will forever be cherished. Rest in peace, dear friend.

Dear Dr. Ada Ajie I am deeply sorry for your loss. Your father, late Dr. (Chief) Sonny Ajie, KSM, JP, DSSRS, Osichi II of Ogbaland a wonderful person who touched many lives, and his memory will always be cherished. I pray that God comforts and strengthens you during this difficult time. May His guidance and love continue to be with you and your family. Please accept my heartfelt condolences.”
Tribute to a rare gem.
Matron.

With love and honor,
Your first cousin and Personal Assistant,
‘Lady’ Ego Ezebalike

TRIBUTE

Rest well problem solver
Sleep on my beloved uncle
God bless your kind soul
